What causes acne?

9 remedies to help get rid of acne
REMEDY #1 - Consult with a Dermatologist
The first step to get rid of acne is to see a board certified dermatologist. A dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of skin conditions. I recommend seeing a dermatologist to rule out any underlying medical condition that may be causing the break out. If you have insurance, look up a reputable doctor in your area. Ratemymd.com is a very good site that rates doctor's based on patient feedback.
REMEDY #2- Keep your diet in check
The saying you are what you eat is exactly so. The consumption of too much oily foods like pizza, French fries and foods that are high in trans fats and saturated fats should be avoided. Acne thrives off of oil. The consumption of such foods can not only cause of acne it can also cause weight gain which also increases the amount of bad cholesterol in the body. Reduce your intact of junk food. Aim for more healthier foods like fruits and vegetables. Read the nutritional label on the back of any product you plan to consume.
Remedy #3 - Aim for 8 glasses of water per day
Water helps to cleanse the body. It removes impurities through urine. Don't over do it. Aim for the 8 glasses if not medically contraindicated.
Remedy #4 - Utilize Ice
Ice constricts vessels. Take a clean cloth and wrap an ice cube in it. Place the wrap cloth on the pimple. Ice has been shown to reduce swelling. Be careful with ice. It can burn the skin. Don't leave the icy cloth on your skin for too long. Alternate between applying the cloth and removing it from the skin.
Remedy #5 - Ingredients that help get rid of acne
1. Benzyl Peroxide - this is an ingredient that is found in many acne fighting products. It is known for it's bacteria fighting elements.
2. Alpha-Hydroxy Acid - used mainly for younger skin but has been shown to help reduce the size and number of pimples. It stings, so be careful. If the stinging becomes too much you should remove the product from your skin right away.
3. Tea Tree Oil - it's an essential oil with acne bacteria fighting properties. This product also stings and should be used with caution.
5. Salicylic Acid - also a very good acne fighting ingredient. It has been shown to reduce the number of pimples on the skin.
Remedy #6 Raw Honey
Honey should also be used with caution because some people are allergic to it. To determine if you are allergic to honey, first apply a small amount to the back of your arm or wrist. An allergic reaction will caution itching and welts. Do not use on your face if you are allergic. A small amount of honey should be applied to the skin with a clean tongue applicator. Be sure to use a new tongue applicator during each application. Avoid cleaning or rinsing the applicator. Leave the honey on the face for 5-10 minutes and then rinse.
Remedy #7 - Fresh lemon juice
Great caution should be used when utilizing lemon. Mixing water and lemon together and applying it to the face with a sterile cotton ball. If you feel any burning or itching you should rinse the area immediately. Lemon is very acidic. It will burn anything it is applied to. Your skin is very delicate. It can not only make your face very red, it can also burn it. Apply the natural astringent to your face and rinse in about a minute.
Remedy #8 - Reduce stress
Believe it or not, stress can also be the reason why you are breaking out. Try limiting the amount of stress in your life. Avoid being negative and try to see the positive in everything and everyone.
